art in science® Award

art-in-science-award

In 1991, the first novel award was presented in recognition of excellence in pressure distribution research. The novel award recipient was determined by an international review committee from the fields of biomechanics and medicine. The novel award for pressure distribution measurement research continued since then to be endowed by novel.
In 2010 the “novel award” was renamed the “art in science® Award”. The prize will be awarded to scientists presenting papers not only associated with pedography or foot biomechanics, but for any research in the field of sensing body contact and dynamic load distribution.

The art in science® Award 2020, with a prize of EUR 5,000 will be presented to young investigators for the best scientific manuscript in the field of dynamic load distribution in biomechanics. Please note: The author's brithday must be after January 1st, 1976.

The paper must be entirely original, not published at the time of the meeting in any journal nor submitted for publication to any journal or book. The paper must describe a scientific study including pressure distribution measurement.
The review of the papers will be conducted by a prominent panel of experts. The nominated authors are requested to send a full length paper by the May 31, 2020 date and will present the paper at the meeting during a 25 minute talk. The art in science® Award will be presented to the winner at the banquet, July 25th, 2020.

Michael M. Morlock, PhD
Director, Institute of Biomechanics
TUHH Hamburg University of Technology
Hamburg, Germany

We are very pleased that Prof. Morlock has accepted to chair the art in science® scientific committee as in several ESM meetings before.
Prof. Morlock has outstanding, long-term experience in biomechanical research, especially in implant technology.
His research is published in many peer reviewed scientific journals and congresses.
Since 1996 Prof. Morlock is a guest editor of the Journal of Clinical Biomechanics. Also, Prof. Morlock hosted and organized several international congresses and participated as a member in many scientific committees.

Best Presentation Award

Will be presented during the final reception on Saturday evening, July 25th, 2020.
The award is based on voting of the scientific committee.
Abstracts for oral presentation in the field of load distribution measurement, that are not participating in the art in science® Award must be submitted by January 31st, 2020.
The award winner will receive a prize of EUR 1,000.

Best Poster Award

Will be presented during the final reception on Saturday evening, July 25th, 2020.
The award is based on voting of the scientific committee.
Abstracts for poster presentation in the field of load distribution measurement must be submitted by January 31st, 2020.
The award winner will receive a prize of EUR 1,000.

Most Promising Proposal MPP

Anyone who has not defended his or her PhD prior to the first conference day (July 23rd, 2020) is eligible for the MPP award. The goal is to present a project proposal which includes the investigation of load distribution on the human or animal body. The topic area can be freely chosen and a document of max. two pages (excl. reference list) must be submitted to the session chair not earlier than one hour before the award session starts. Seven printed copies must be provided. Proposals fitting the requirements will be presented in a separate session during ESM 2020.
